A recently built log cabin with a sauna, located in the Jurkalne village, which has one of the most scenic beaches in Latvia. A sandy beach is 500 metres away from the cottage (just behind the famous 20 m high-coasts of Jurkalne).

On the first floor of the cozy log cabin there is a living room, where a small oven (fireplace) is located– this could make your stay more comfortable when it’s cooler outside; there’s also a WC; a modern shower cabin (offering various functions for water massage and a radio) and a nice sauna.
On the second floor of the cottage a spacious bedroom is located, with 4 double beds and 1 single child bed. NB! Stairs to the second floor can be dangerous for smaller children. Also, despite the fact that there are sleeping places for 9 people, for groups of more than 5-6 people staying here might not be quite as comfortable, because the dining table on the first flour is not large enough to accommodate more than 6 people.
There is no kitchen as such in the cabin but there is some kitchen equipment, so that one can prepare a basic meal here – a microwave oven; a coffee machine; an electric kettle and a barbecue at the cottage.
The cabin has a wide roofed terrace in the front, where you could have your meals outside on a rainy day, too. Owners of house are very proud with the original barbecue that resembles an old steam locomotive.
Next to the cottage there is a nice playground for children with swings, sandbox and some toys.
There is a nice view from the cabin - unfortunately this is a little bit disturbed with some Soviet time buildings that are located on the west side of the cottage. However, on the other sides of the cottage there are nice meadows and forests (only few houses in the neighborhood).
The owners’ house is located on the same plot of land. As the owners have a Wi-Fi internet connection, you will have a possibility to browse the Internet if you will bring your laptop with you.
Your peace might be disturbed a little bit by some workers, as the owners’ house is not quite finished yet and still needs a little bit of work to be done (such as placing of slabs on the paths).

Jûrkalne is one of the most popular places for summer vacations in Latvia. Many people love to spend their holidays there, as the 20m high-coasts with the wide sandy beach is a truly nice place. Four lovely restaurants can be found in Jûrkalne. In addition, there are some interesting sights to see, for example, various sculptures, monuments, the old wooden bridge, etc.
20 km away SW of Jûrkalne there is the lovely small coastal town Pavilosta, which could be interesting to explore, too. 40 km away South of Pavilosta there is Liepaja – a city with a 750-years history, which will surprise you with her art nouveau buildings in the centre of the town and with many stylish cafes and restaurants, too.
On the East of Jurkalne there is the old medieval town Kuldiga, with the widest waterfall in Europe – Ventas Rumba. There is also the ancient town with narrow streets between the houses, some of which are even 200-300 years-old but have been preserved quite well. There you will feel a true breath of past.
About 50 km to the North there is Ventspils – a town, really favored by tourists with kids: there is a water attraction park, some really good children playgrounds, a cable-path attraction park “Wild Cat” (Meza Kakis), a nice open air museum, etc.

Ventspils is connected by ferry lines with Saaremaa in Estonia, Nynashamn in Sweden and Rostock in Germany.
